Cityblock Health’s Dr. Sylvia Romm Joins Myia Health Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO, November 16, 2021 -- Myia Health, an enterprise platform for virtual health care delivery in the home, announced today the addition of Dr. Sylvia Romm, Chief Health Officer, Virtual Care at Cityblock Health, to its Board of Directors. She will advise Myia as the company works with more health system and health plan partners to launch transformational virtual care programs.

In her role at Cityblock, Dr. Romm works with team members and physicians to improve patient access to high-quality, affordable care via digital tools. She has led the development of Cityblock’s virtual care department, which includes integrated primary, urgent, and acute medical, behavioral, and social care.

“Dr. Romm has deep experience as a clinician, operator and entrepreneur, putting her in a unique position to help guide Myia through its next phase of growth. Her first hand experience applying technology to enable higher-quality, more accessible care for vulnerable individuals makes her a compelling and reputable addition to the board,” said Simon MacGibbon, Co-founder and CEO of Myia Health. “She has dedicated her career to making health care more effective and more equitable, two values that perfectly fit in Myia’s mission.”

Prior to Cityblock, Dr. Romm served as the Chief Innovation Officer for Atlantic Health System in New Jersey. She also worked as the Vice President of Clinical Transformation at Amwell, the largest video-based telemedicine company in the United States, where she was also the Vice President of Medical Affairs and a Medical Director. Additionally, Dr. Romm is the founder of Sonder Health (formerly MilkOnTap), the nation’s first telehealth company focused on the needs of nursing mothers and lactation support. Dr. Romm earned her Master of Public Health in Global Health from Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. She holds a medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and completed her residency in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital.

“The proliferation of digital tools and data in health care allows us to see what’s happening in a patient’s everyday life outside the doctor’s office, but that data is only useful if it can be translated into actions,” Dr. Romm said. “Myia is doing just that, capturing and harnessing data from the home to demonstrably improve the care that’s being delivered and make it more efficient. I’m excited to be part of that work.”

Dr. Sylvia Romm was referred to Myia Health through Break into the Boardroom (BiB), an initiative run by Oxeon Partners and Deerfield Management that promotes greater representation of female health care executives in the Boardroom.

Myia powers the nation’s leading virtual hospital, Mercy virtual, and is backed by clinical partners like the American College of Cardiology.
